Left Column. I was licensed in 1982 at the age of 15. Started with CW and I still love it (CWOps member 2758). I earned my advanced experimenter license a year later to impress the girls. Must have worked, I am married to VA7DDS.

Middle Column. If you are reading this you may have just worked me on HF. Thanks! If you have access to AllStar/EchoLink/IRLP please see below how you can also reach me on The Canada Hub, which I am also monitoring most of the time.

For HF from 160-6m, my location is at my home QTH in Coquitlam, BC, 25km east of Vancouver. The radio is an Icom-7610 as my main radio, Kenwood TS-870 as the station reference receiver and backup, Flex Genius Amp used for DX pileups, Flex Tuner Genius for, well, tuning antennas that need it, Cushcraft X7 at 42 feet (with Ham IV rotor and DCU-3 controller) for 6/10/12/15/17/20 metres and a 43′ vertical wire in a tree with questionable radials due to living on a suburban lot for 30-160m. This station is also fully remotely controllable… mostly accessed from my kitchen and living room so I don’t miss a rare one!

write-ups

But despite the above, most 6m operation is from my remote station on Gabriola Island, BC which isn’t as obstructed to EU and JA by high terrain (see further down).

I am active on all bands from 1.8 MHz to 1.2 GHz. Plus AREDN on 5.6GHz. CW/SSB/AM/FM/JT-modes.
